Why it is important to know the technical aspects of injection mesotherapy

Injection mesotherapy is the most effective procedure that aesthetic medicine specialists very often perform on their patients.

The effect of mesotherapy lies not only in the effect of drugs that are injected directly into the skin, but also in the stimulation of biologically active points located on its surface.

However, the effectiveness of this procedure largely depends on the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of the specialist performing it. There are certain technical aspects of injectable mesotherapy that every aesthetic medicine specialist should be aware of.

Injection mesotherapy:

- preparatory stage of injection mesotherapy: general recommendations;

- basic recommendations on the mode of injection mesotherapy;

- Techniques for administering drugs in injectable mesotherapy.

Preparatory stage of injection mesotherapy: general recommendations

At the stage of preparation for injection mesotherapy, the specialist must adhere to the following recommendations:

- the procedure is carried out manually or using a special device for mesotherapy - mesoinjector.

- for manual equipment, disposable medical syringes are used (insulin with a volume of 1 ml, or a volume of 2-10 ml).

- the length of the needle for injection mesotherapy is 4-13 mm, the cross section is 27-30 G. At the moment, special needles for mesotherapy are on sale.

- the procedure is carried out only with gloves, the patient's skin must be pre-treated with an antiseptic (often alcohol-containing) agent.

- before the procedure, it is imperative to inform the patient about possible complications.

Basic recommendations for injection mesotherapy regimen

Injection mesotherapy can be performed with one drug - in this case, it is called monotherapy, or by combining several drugs, that is, using a meso-cocktail. The frequency of sessions is determined individually for each patient. On average, if mesotherapy is performed:

- for aesthetic indications - weekly injections are performed during the first 4 weeks, the next two procedures are performed at two-week intervals, then once every 4-6 weeks. The course takes 5-6 months and consists, on average, of 10 procedures.

- in chronic diseases, 1-2 procedures per week are performed for 8-10 weeks, then maintenance sessions are performed after 1, 2, 3 and 6 months. The number of sessions per course is from 4 to 20.

Techniques for administering drugs during injection mesotherapy

Preparations for mesotherapy are administered intradermally or subcutaneously to a depth of, on average, 1.5 - 4 mm in a volume of 0.02 to 0.2 ml. There are two main techniques for administering drugs during mesotherapy:

- micropapules technique - involves single injections to a depth of 1.5-4 mm, to the level of the papillary dermis.

- nappage technique - involves multiple and frequent microinjections into the papillary dermis or epidermis, to a shallow depth (up to 1.5 mm).

Depending on the volume of the injected drug and the speed of its administration, the techniques are classified as follows:

- fast mesoinjection (mesopuncture) - performed manually, while a small dose of the drug is injected - 0.02-0.01 ml.

- mesoinfiltration - used for dermal impregnation with age-related skin changes, striae and scars, while the volume of the administered drug, on average, up to 0.2 ml.

- slow mesoinjection or mesoperfusion is used for the slow introduction of the drug in a volume of up to 2.2 ml.

Injection mesotherapy is an effective procedure, the technically correct implementation of which largely guarantees a pronounced result and a lasting effect.

It is the high efficiency of mesotherapy that makes this procedure so popular among patients of aesthetic medicine specialists.
